Los Angeles cafes

Looking for that great coffee shop or a cafe to try for breakfast? Well these cafes measure up, whether you're looking for a honest to goodness cup of joe or a refreshing smoothie, brunch or a great sandwich.

Cathryn's Potatoes with Two Eggs, Aroma Coffee and Tea Company

-- Aroma Coffee and Tea Company -- Aroma is pretty close to the epitome of neighborhood cafe in my book. Located in Studio City, Aroma and it's accompanying bookstore are located in the middle of a quaint block of boutiques and small restaurants. This cafe takes advantage of Los Angeles' great year-round weather, offering a great outdoor dining experience on one of two patios. Combined with the fresh tea and independently roasted coffee delivered weekly, its no wonder the line is always out the door. The brunch offerings are equally enticing, including everything from health-conscious power breakfasts to omelettes to breakfast paninis to brioche french toast. And if you're a potato lover, as am I, the rosemary potatoes are a must.

-- Toast Bakery Cafe -- Situated in one of the trendiest areas of LA, on 3rd Street in Beverly Hills, Toast Bakery Cafe meets the challenge of combining a hip vibe with the friendly atmosphere you'd expect from a neighborhood cafe. The outdoor tables make for great people watching, while indoors one is met with inviting couches. Toast's smoothies and frappes are fresh and flavorful, but it's the food that really sets Toast apart. The portions are generous -- take their pressed sandwiches for instance, loaded with fresh ingredients and served with your choice of side. Their onion rings are some of the best I've had. Try the Smoke Stack pressed sandwich, a great combination of brie, smoked turkey, avocado and basil aioli.

-- Euro Pane Bakery -- Euro Pane is easy to miss in its original location on Colorado Blvd in Pasadena, and those who've never ventured in are surely missing out. Euro pane offers freshly baked breads, pastries and desserts, alongside a limited lunch menu consisting of around ten sandwiches including chicken, turkey, ham, and egg salad served on your choice of the aforementioned breads. The brioche is amazing, buttery and rich as it should be. And Euro Pane appears to have a second more upscale location across from Paseo Colorado.
